Sunday with the boys! Lighting on the stage was a huge challenge this day. They added 2 more plus, unfortunately, added pink filters (pink!!!) to 2 of them. *sigh*
The boys!!!! And yes, I'm still calling them that. They may be older, married guys now, but as long as the crew still calls them boys, so will I. ;) I'd like to again, thank hells_half_acre for her wonderful reports. It's very tough to be taking photographs, looking at the actors through a camera lens and manage to fully retain what was said. I even attempted, on Friday, to take notes afterwards and I still could remember very little. Clearly, I can't split my time like that during a convention. You either take photos or you devote your attention to what the guests say and do. It's impossible to do both. :P
The issue with the lights came up right away, as Jensen noted how bright they were. Someone then turned them off and he said they didn't have to do that, that he was getting used to them. Pretty soon a vote was put up and sadly the people who wanted the lights on got their wish. I will say that I think the majority of us in the front rows really didn't like the lights, but people in the back did. The best option would've been to turn a couple of them off, but I guess at this point it was all or nothing. *sigh* I did love how the lights came back on as soon as Jensen said to have them back on. That man commands authority! *g*
The first question was for Jensen to sing and I'll admit, I would've loved it if he had, but I know why he didn't. "You do it once and then all of a sudden it's expected of you. It's why Jared never shows up on time. 'Cause once he shows up on time people are actually gonna expect it!" We can't expect Jensen to sing at every convention. When he did it in Rome it was wonderful, but he's not comfortable singing on stage, especially in front of people who are basically strangers. Like he's stated in the past, he's an actor and he'll leave the singing to his friends who've chosen to make that their career. I will say that once he said no, the gal who asked the question should've dropped it and stepped away. We're fans. We're not here to badger the guests like pushy reporters. They're on that stage for our benefit...don't make them regret that.
Someone brought up Matt Cohen's comment about Jared's workout or whatever and all I could make out was Jared saying that he'd get back to him about that. Hehheh. Another question was about Sera taking over as show runner and how that would effect things. Jared said the characters have obviously changed and that with Eric's 5 yr. plan the show had to change because of that ending. Sera's also been with the show since the beginning. "I'm naked a lot more." LOL Jensen said that there has been a change, that the shows are a lot bigger and Eric was able to dial things back and make the episodes more manageable, but he doesn't think we'll notice any difference. When Jensen was asked to talk about his directing debut this season Jared said, "Whoo! Take it off!" and Jensen replied, "Way to class it up there, buddy." and then Jared came back with, "Can you sing the answer?" Heehee! Btw, I have to add there was a baby in the left front few rows somewhere that would make noises every once in a while. In fact when Jensen was talking about the scheduling of the episode he directed, the baby squealed and it was cute how Jensen went with it. "I was able to come back from my summer hiatus early *baby squeal*...I know!" LOL Anyway, Jensen started working on 6x04 on June 20th. The key to him was being prepared. "I poured over that script for weeks and I showed up day one with 8 days of shot lists."
The next question was about Misha saying he had a shrine to Jensen set up on his bedroom door. Jensen: "I don't understand why that's odd." He said he made Jared take his down. Jared said he gave a lot of his supplies to Misha, so he got to recycle. Jensen: "They formed a small Jensen Appreciation Group...and their seeking counseling." When Jensen was asked about "Batman: Under The Red Hood", Jared fell out of his chair and faked sleeping on the stage. Jensen got up and pretended to give some money to the fan and said, "It worked!" Heehee! He said he took that job because they called him and that doing voice-over work for an animated film is very different than regular acting. The lines are all numbered and you do them in order. He'd do each line 3 different ways. As for the crazy fans question, Jensen mentioned about his parents getting spells sent to them with used underwear!?!? OMG people, why???? Jensen then said, "I gotta be honest though, I think the fans of Supernatural are pretty cool...they're not crazy Twilight fans. *audience cheers* They actually have some self-respect and they respect, you know, the show and the guys who work hard on the show, and so I think we're lucky in that aspect that we've got really cool fans." :D He was also asked if he was disappointed that he didn't get to play Michael, but Jensen said he was very glad he dodged that bullet and he was just happy Dean got to be part of the show's mythology at last instead of being a sidekick to Sam, to which Jared slyly said, "Eye candy". ;)
And of course, we couldn't get away from someone asking an inappropriate question. This time from a guy asking about Dean/Castiel slash. Sheesh. The crowd reacted with boos and Jensen deftly said he'd answer that question by not answering it. "That's not what the show's about dude." Then there was the bizarre (and confusing) question about Jensen in the gag reel and being an "old soul". Neither Jensen or Jared (or the rest of us for that matter) could figure out what she was going on about, but the "old soul" part became a running gag for the rest of the panel.
The guys were asked if the Ghostfacers would be returning and Jared started answering by saying "Y'all" which brought giggles from the audience. Jared remembered where he was and changed it to "You guys, eh." and said they'd be back if the fans wanted them. Then Jensen (and Jared joined in) sang "Ghost! Ghostfacers!" LOL When asked about some places they could suggest to visit around Vancouver the guys started naming off the various towns and then Jensen stopped and said "Wow, we have been here a while. I don't think I even know that many parts of Los Angeles." A gal told the guys about Misha wearing his jacket on inside out and the water bottle incident from the day before, which made both of them laugh. Jared was happy he had more ammunition to fire back at Misha and Jensen suggested that maybe all the crew members should wear their jackets on inside out the next day. They were asked if they ever drive the Impala off the set and Jensen said, no, that it's always locked up when they're not using them for filming and that they're not insured for that anyway, plus he'd get way to much attention if he did drive it around outside of filming.
That's really all I've got. Just a reminder that most of this was gathered from various youtube videos (and sadly there aren't enough of those to show the whole panel) and from people's reports online.
I did keep a few slightly fuzzy photos, but they're not too bad and I like them, so I've kept them in. The photos have been re-sized down to 1600 x 1067, in order to save space. Still fairly large in my opinion. Keep in mind that the originals are over 4,000 pixels wide. If anyone wants a few in that size, PM me and I'll do what I can to get them to you. :)
