I'd like to think of this as an in-depth look into Supernatural. It's a collection of interesting observations, continuity errors, goofs, filmmaking techniques, statistics, important (or not so important) information, trivia, and anything else that struck me as unusual.
In which episode did Dean first kick in a door?
How many episodes has Sam been the coffee boy?
In which episodes can you see a crew member or the camera?
When do Jared & Jensen do their own stunts and when do we see their stunt doubles?
You'll learn the answers to these questions and many more.
I'll be examining each episode in order, one at a time. Some of the info. will probably be well known to most of you, but I hope to point out some new discoveries as well.
All the caps in these posts are my own. While most of these will not be suitable for other uses, due to my cropping and highlighting, you're free to take any that you like. All I ask is that you give me credit for them. Thanks! :D
Filming Location: Buntzen Lake stands in for Lake Manitoc, Wisconsin.
This cabin at Buntzen Lake is very popular. Jensen's been there twice now.
In this SPN episode...
and in the film Devour.
Filming Location: You can see the Delta Barber Shop in the background as Andrea walks Sam & Dean to the Lakefront Motel.
Continuity Error:: When Will Carlton is killed in the sink the plug to the drain is in the water...
then out of the water in one shot when he's shown reaching in the sink...
and back in again before he pulls it out.
Continuity Error: There's also a little mix up on the position of his head and his hand in the sink once the water drains. This shot from below the sink, shows his head resting on his left hand.
But in this shot from above, you can see his right arm under his head and body.
Filming Location: I did my best to see what this street sign by the yellow house said, and I'm thinking it's Bridge St. There is a Bridge St. in Richmond, B.C. and one in Ladner (where they filmed a lot of this episode). But the Richmond one is more residential, so I'm thinking that's the right one.
Edit: Aug. 18, 2008 - Thanks to dprincess66 for confirmation that the house is on Bridge Street in Ladner and is a Bed & Breakfast.
Continuity Error: The water level goes up and down between shots just before Andrea is attacked in the bathtub.
Regular Feature: Dean Door Kick: # 2 - Dean finds an economical way to get into the bathroom where Andrea is.
You can see that the actress playing Andrea (Amy Acker) is wearing panties when Jared pulls her from the bathtub.
Jensen and Jared are both wearing wet suits under their clothing when they jump into the lake. See the white?
Filming Locations: Ladner Motors in the background of the last scene.
Edit: Jan. 31, 2008 - Proof that I don't catch everything. lierina pointed out the following little blooper to me. Thanks my dear!
As Sam prepares to say goodbye to Andrea you can briefly see a microphone wire appear above his jeans.
Hope you enjoyed this revealing look at Dead In The Water.
