I'm trying out LJ's new Post Editor (not available to everyone yet) and I've already run into a few bugs.
First, you can't scroll through your UserPics or select one. Okay, correction...you can select a UserPic after you do a search for one. Plus, the text from the body of the entry shows up on top of the UserPics box. So they'll need to iron out some problems there.
Oooh, you can add a divider to your post, now. That's kinda nice. :)
There's an option to add an image from Instagram, but it shows it's not available to me. Maybe because I'm not logged into Instagram through LJ? There's other options as well, but again, not all of them are available to me. Plus, the option bar only shows up when you start a new paragraph....kind of a pain.
Let's try to insert a Cut....
That works and you can close the Cut just as easily (part of the scissors will be darkened, indicating that you're closing the Cut).
Let's try adding an image from my computer...
Okay, so I can do that - and I like that there's easy options to display the image in different ways: resized, full-size, or off to the side of text like this. That's a new option. It would be nice if they had little text clues as to what the options are though. Another bug to fix.
Btw, I found this image online
- just don't ask me where. LOL
I do kinda miss the option to view how a post will look on your own journal or a community. But then they're still giving us the option to switch back to the old editor. Wonder how long that will last?
Another thing I've noticed...no more spell-check with this editor. 'Cause usually my browser catches mistakes as I'm typing and I'm not seeing any of that with this new LJ Editor. So watch your spelling everyone! Ha!
Let's see if I can post a screencap like I do with the Just 'Cause posts...
Okay, that seems to work. It didn't like all the extra coding from SlickPic though. :P Btw, this cap has been posted before - nothing new.
I can't currently add images from my LJ Scrapbook, which is kind of odd. Another bug for them to iron out. I notice there's only options to make the text larger, not smaller. Hmmm...
How about the Quote feature?
Dean: Well, house rules, Sammy. Driver picks the music, shotgun shuts his cake hole.
Sam: You know, Sammy is a chubby twelve-year-old. It's Sam, okay?
Dean: Sorry, I can't hear you. The music's too loud.
Ah, I see you use Shift+Enter/Return to make a single line break...just like with LJ's new comment feature. This is something they didn't mention in their article about the new Editor. Anyway, the Quote Feature is nice. Again, I have no idea at the moment how this is going to look on my journal.
I can't think of anything else to try besides adding in a video, but I'll let that go for now. Like I've said there's definitely some bugs for them to work on. Don't know if I'll stick to the new Editor or not. It does have it's limitations and will take some getting used to.
Btw, I'll leave their IAmTestingNewPostEditor tag on this post for now, but I'll probably drop it later because I really don't like their new hashtag tags. Ugh!
If any of you try out this new Editor, I'd love to hear your opinions about it.
